Rumors are spreading of a suspected name change for the city of Russellville if a casino is not built. Speakers for the group, Pope County Citizens For A Casino, state that if a casino is not constructed, they will file for a petition to establish a special election. If all signatures pass, the name change will be placed on the ballot for citizens to vote to either keep the name 'Russellville' or change the name to 'RussVegas.'
Russellville conservatives are not the slightest bit concerned about the name change scare. They feel that the special election will swing the same way as the past 2018 election for the county ordinance, as they believe the First Baptist Church will help sway enough votes in their favor.
A government shutdown is still in place as officials have not appropriated funds for the casino wall.
