A local real estate developer confirms the rumor that he is in the process of buying his own island in the Illinois Bayou. The property is located between Lake Front Drive and HWY 64 in Russellville.

As a lifetime resident of the River Valley, the unnamed Realtor says he, has “had just about enough with the politics around here.” When pressed for further explanation, he stated that the WalMart Neighborhood Market scandal of 2014“almost did him in.” He also finds it absurd when he parks his extended bed pickup truck in front of Old Bank he gets towed every time. He doesn’t like the new Bird scooters either and thinks they are “silly.” These things coupled with all the “letter writing and casino talk” have created his own personal perfect storm and caused him to seek out his private island.

Although the property is maintained by Corps of Engineer, the unnamed Realtor said that wouldn’t be a problem, explaining that he’s walking in with one-hundred dollar bills in hand. “It won’t be a problem if you know what I mean,” he said with a wink. He plans to commute to and from the island by helicopter and ferry. To secure the property, he plans to release 25-30 additional alligators into the lake. Weather permitting, he hopes to start the groundwork this summer.

When asked, why he is choosing to live on a small island just a stone’s throw from the town that is plaguing him, rather than move to another city, he said, “I’ve lived here my whole life, and I’m going to keep up with what’s going on.”
